Welcome

The Games+Learning+Society is a a pioneer team researching education in innovative forms. Composed of researchers, professors, game developers and graduate students, the team at the GLS investigates how video games and technology can foster learning and education.

Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, the team is led by Kurt Squire, co-founder of joystick101.org, and Constance Steinkuehler, who served as Senior Policy Analyst in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy from 2011 to 2012.

The GLS came together over ten years ago with just a small team under Squire and Steinkuehler. Today, with the staff nearly tripled, the team is composed of dozens of members who contribute to this cutting-edge research.

Though the Games+Learning+Society has been situated in various locations in the past, the team currently is stationed in the heart of The University of Wisconsin – Madison’s campus on University Avenue.
